Notice of City-Wide Revaluation of Property Assessments
The City of Eau Claire Assessor’s Office will be conducting a city-wide revaluation of property assessments for the 2018 assessment year. Exterior inspections will be made of properties, which may include measuring and taking photos of structures. The exterior inspections will begin on Monday, October 2, 2017, and continue through approximately December 31, 2017 or until all properties have been viewed. Revaluation notices will be mailed in approximately August of 2018 to property owners whose property assessment changed in value.
The goal of a revaluation is to create uniform, equitable and fair assessments ensuring each property bears its fair share of the property tax burden. Revaluations ensure that the distribution of property taxes is impartial and based on market value standards.
The City appreciates the cooperation of homeowners in helping the Assessor’s Office complete the revaluation as efficiently as possible. Local municipalities are required by state law to base assessments upon an actual view of the property or the best information available.
The ability to enter land is subject to several qualifications and limitations, as described within state statutes. Select the following link for the Notice of Assessor’s Authority to Enter Land.
