Welcome to the online edition of Community News!

2010

2009

Beginning in 2009 we began replacing the paper version of our community newsletter with a newer and less expensive web-based format. The former newsletter was printed and delivered to residents twice annually. The online version will be provided bimonthly for a budget savings of approximately $15,000 per year. Community News will continue to be a dependable source of contact information about City services and information about public meetings. Each edition will also provide current information about local government projects and initiatives, development activities, and community issues. We believe the expanded information available through the online format will help support ongoing efforts to strengthen the community’s capacity for effective civic engagement.

Eau Claire City government is in the midst of an historic transition that will redefine our role within the broader community and how the City delivers public services. The path of transformation will be difficult, marked by unknown detours and obstacles. Central to our success will be greater civic engagement and expanded community partnerships. At the end, however, I believe we will have a local government with a reinvigorated sense of purpose, a truer alignment of purpose with actions, and a way of doing business as a government that re-engages all of us—citizens, public employees, and elected officials— in productive and essential public work and governance. -Mike Huggins
