Athletes Performing Their Best On and Off the field.
Life of an Athlete (LOA) was selected by the Alliance based on local data and its proven effectiveness. The LOA program, created by John Underwood, includes research on the impact of alcohol and marijuana, sports nutrition, recovery, and sleep on athletes. It also calls special attention to a Stanford University study about the negative impact of alcohol on the teen brain. LOA is being used in schools across the county to call for more consistent athletic codes and engage both parents and teens in committing to healthy lifestyles that support optimal athletic performance.
Since the fall of 2011:
We need your energy and ideas to support teams, coaches and parents as we take additional steps to reduce underage drinking. We invite you to get involved in short or long term projects to help student athletes avoid drug and alcohol use and perform their best on and off the field.
