A vibrant and thriving downtown is an important reflection on our city as a whole. As the historic core of our community, vast amounts of past public and private dollars have been invested, and future dollars continue to be invested in the revitalization effort. It serves as a significant tax base ($3.08 million in 2008), a new business incubator, and an indispensable shopping, dining, service, and government center. It is also a major tourist draw with year-round activities and events taking place, beautiful parks, and an extensive bike trail system.

Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) serves the 500+ businesses that fall within the boundaries of downtown, an area that employs 28% of the city’s population. DECI is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the development of business, housing, cultural resources, and activities within downtown Eau Claire. Staff dedicates their time to marketing, business recruitment, organizing and implementing several festivals and events, and advocating for the needs of the downtown business community.
