The surveying section of the Engineering Division provides the following services:

1. Establishment of grades for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
   1. Building Grades
   2. Sidewalk and Driveway Grades
   3. Lawn Grades
2. Perform all phases of survey on municipal construction projects from preliminary surveys to final construction and right-of-way staking.
3. Prepare Certified Survey Maps and Subdivision Plats of municipal owned lands.
4. Assist in the review of Certified Survey Maps and subdivisions within the City of Eau Claire for adherence to statutory and municipal requirements.
5. Research or prepare legal descriptions used in the process of street vacations, official mapping, zoning changes, and title transfers of municipal lands.
6. Mark existing right-of-way locations.
7. Maintain elevation benchmark data within the City of Eau Claire for municipal and public use.
8. Maintain block corner monumentation of existing platted areas within the City of Eau Claire.
9. Maintain monumentation of the Public Survey System within the City of Eau Claire.
10. Maintain horizontal control for all Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
11. Act as a clearing house for private citizens and surveyors/engineers who need information regarding survey information within the city of Eau Claire.
