Living Legacy Planting Program

City of Eau Claire
Living Legacy Planting Program

For a donation of $300 the city will plant a tree in memory of, honor of, or to celebrate a moment in life (birth, anniversary, marriage etc).  The donor(s) will be notified prior to the planting. A certificate will be given to the donor(s) recognizing their donation and their honoree.

In order to achieve the best survival rate and establishment, legacy trees to be planted in city cemeteries and parks must meet specifications and recommendations set forth by the Forestry Division of the Eau Claire Parks and Recreation Department.

The Forestry Division will aid in the selection of species and planting location. Legacy planting will meet the specifications of a grade 1 shade tree and be 2" caliber, balled and burlapped stock. The tree will be planted in either April or October, depending on species.

Plaques, markers or tags will not be placed at the tree but location maps and photos can be provided as the city computerized tree inventory program is developed. A certificate suitable for framing will be included.
