Benefits for Tenants

Tenants can benefit from this program without actually attending the course themselves. By encouraging landlords to attend the course, tenants can achieve:
  • A safer place to live.
  • Better living conditions.
  • Having a responsible landlord that deals with routine management of their property.
  • Improved relationship with landlord, neighbors and the community.

How to encourage landlords to attend the training course:

  • Ask your present landlord if they have attended the training. If not, encourage them to attend.
  • When looking for a different place to live, seek out Certified Landlords. For a list of Certified Eau Claire Landlords visit the CELP Directory
  • During your search tell landlords that you prefer to rent from Certified Landlords. Tell them about our web site, so they can make arrangements to attend.
  • When speaking to a Certified Landlord, let them know that you located them through the CELP Directory or that you chose to rent from them because they are a Certified Landlord.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate is sponsoring their annual "House Day" on February 3, 2004 at Davies Center. This is a great opportunity to meet with landlords and learn about properties for rent. For more information visit: http://www.uwec.edu/

There is also information available from the state regarding landlord/tenant issues. If you would like more information about tenant's "rights and responsibilities" contact:
