K-9 Fund
The K-9 fund was started in 2006 as the Eau Claire Police Department had a need for additional K-9 dogs, however, no traditional government funding options had been available to expand this program.
Tax-deductible donations can be made to support the Eau Claire Police Department K-9 units at:

The Eau Claire Police Department has had one K-9 unit since 1990. Since that time, we have found that the K-9 unit is an extremely important asset to our department as he assists patrol officers with dangerous tasks thereby increasing both police and officer safety.
K-9 dogs are very well trained and very well controlled by their handler. The dogs are also very friendly when no working and doing community presentations such as:
- How they perform narcotics detection
- The different ways that suspect location and apprehension can be done
- Their abilities for search and rescue of missing persons
- Ways they are able to provide for increased public and officer safety on a daily basis
Our K-9 dog (and handler) enjoy doing these public presentations as it helps the community understand the wide range of positive service functions that a K-9 dog is able to provide.
