The Patrol Investigator's primary task is to follow up and complete investigations involving accidents, hit and run accidents, ordinance violations and other cases which may be too time consuming or extensive to be completed by patrol officers during their shifts.

The officer assigned to this position is a uniformed officer assigned to a marked squad car. This provides another uniformed officer that can be assigned to cases in the field in the event of an emergency.  A broad spectrum of cases and tasks are assigned to this position due to overflow of case assignment and tasks throughout the department

The Patrol Investigator is also a resource for persons inquiring about traffic laws or particular information about accidents or cases they are involved with.
