Licensing and Permits

The below steps are an outline for those individuals looking to apply for the following license/permit types:

Licensing within the City of Eau Claire


  1. Applicants shall apply and pay for permits at the City of Eau Claire Business Licensing/Customer Service/Treasury Department, click here.

  2. The applicant shall be given a copy of the paid application form by the City Clerk, which contains a list of all the inspectors and their phone numbers.

  3. The applicant then must call to arrange the necessary inspections.

  4. No permit shall be released until all required inspection staff have completed a pre-inspection of the facility and it is in compliance with appropriate regulations.
    • Upon completion and approval of pre-inspection, each inspector shall sign the application form.
    • When all inspectors have signed this form, the applicant must take it back to the City Clerk's Office and the license will be issued.

  5. The permit fee paid shall be stated on the application. No permit shall be released until permit fees are paid in full. Checks shall be made payable to ‘City of Eau Claire’.

  6. License Expiration: Licenses expire June 30th of each year.

Licensing outside the City of Eau Claire


  1. Applicants shall apply and pay for permits at the Health Department.

  2. Payment shall be made to the Eau Claire City-County Health Department.

  3. No permit shall be released until a pre-inspection has been completed of the facility and the facility is in compliance with appropriate requirements.

  4. The permit fee paid shall be stated on the application. No permit shall be released until permit fees are paid in full.

  5. License Expiration: Licenses expire June 30th of each year.
