Laboratory Testing
The Certified Public Health laboratory is comprised of a chemistry and microbiological division that conduct microbiological and chemical analyses on a variety of substances (e.g. water, dairy products, food, utensils, air) that affect public health.
The laboratory plays a key role in testing and analyzing environmental samples in many areas, such as food protection, housing, drinking water, septic systems, rodent/insect/rabies control, air pollution, and recreational sanitation.
The laboratory has also served a supportive role in a variety of clinical services, such as testing for sexually transmitted diseases, blood draws, and autoclaving clinical/dental equipment.
Sampling and analysis is conducted to ensure sample acceptability and compliance with public health and environmental standards for public health and welfare.
