Smoking Cessation Programs

Quitting is difficult, but there are many resources to help smokers quit for good. Using counseling and medications together has been shown to increase the success rate of quitting.

If you have health insurance, ask your provider if programs and medications to quit smoking are covered by your plan, and what you need to do.

If you qualify for Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus or Healthy Start, these programs will pay for medications to help you quit smoking. Ask your health care provider to write a prescription for medications that are not sold over-the-counter. For information on qualifying for these programs, call the Health Department at 715-839-4718.

Talk with your health care provider and together you can discuss the best way for you to stop smoking.
