The City of Eau Claire’s Sign Ordinance (Chapter 16.16) provides regulations for display of signs advertising temporary sales held at residential properties in the city. These sales include: thrift sales, garage sales, auctions or any similar type of sale of used merchandise from that property.

Signs may not be located on boulevards, in the public right-of-way, or attached to utility poles, street signs, street light poles, etc.

The maximum size for these types of sings is 6 square feet. The maximum height is 6 feet. Permits are not required for this type of sign.

Remember: Proper installation of your signs will eliminate potential liability and traffic hazards! The City may remove signs in the public right-of-way without notice.
