Information technology expansion brings with it the use of that technology to commit crime. One of the responsibilities of The Technical Services Unit at the Eau Claire Police Department is to locate and preserve digital evidence for investigation. Digital evidence is valuable to investigation of child pornography, child enticement, and a wide variety of financial crimes. It has even been critical in homicide investigations. Most of the digital forensic work is done by one of the detectives assigned to the Sensitive Crimes Section of the Detective Division.
