Consolidated Plan Public Meeting Event and Survey

The City of Eau Claire Housing Division is hosting a public meeting on August 21 to receive input on the development of the City’s new Consolidated Plan. The public meeting will be held August 21, 2019 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at Royal Credit Union (RCU) Eau Claire River Room (200 Riverfront Terrace).

The Federal Government provides funding to States, Counties, and Municipalities annually for assisting low- to moderate-income persons and households through public support, facilities, and services. The City of Eau Claire’s Housing Division receives approximately $550,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding and $300,000 in HOME funding on an annual basis. These funds are broadly used to support decent, safe, sanitary, affordable rental and ownership housing opportunity, public services for individuals and families, and housing and support services for persons experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

The Consolidated Plan will guide the next 5 years of funding received by the City through these programs, and will be written based on needs and priorities of residents of the City. The public meeting will provide residents an opportunity to share their experiences, ideas, thoughts, priorities, and concerns so that the Consolidated Plan, Housing Division, and City at-large may effectively and efficiently address recognized community development needs.

The City encourages residents and others interested in Eau Claire’s future to attend. Individuals can stop by at any time during the event. Background on the Consolidated Planning process will be given at 6:00 pm.

In addition to the Public Meeting on August 21, all residents are encouraged to complete a community survey on aspects and experiences of their community. This survey is available through the end of September 2019, and is available at

It is anticipated that the draft plan will be completed in December 2019 and brought before the City Council for consideration in May 2020.

More information regarding this meeting and survey can be obtained by contacting the City’s Housing Division at (715) 839-4943.
