Proposed Transportation Improvements

The City of Eau Claire in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a Public Involvement Meeting (PIM) to discuss the reconstruction of the Dewey Street Bridge on Dewey Street from Gibson Street to Galloway Street in the city of Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. This project includes removal of the existing structure, construction of a new structure, reconstruction of roadway approaches, new asphaltic pavement, asphalt shoulders, sidewalk replacement, trail construction and replacement of curb & gutter. The project’s design is scheduled for completion by November 1, 2026, with construction planned for 2027.

 

Your Involvement

All people interested in the Dewey Street Bridge project are encouraged to attend the PIM on July 31, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., in the Riverview Room (Rm. 306) at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library located at 400 Eau Claire Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701. A formal presentation will begin at 4:30pm. The objective of this meeting is to gather feedback from the public on the project and provide information as to why the project is occurring.

 

City of Eau Claire staff along with staff from their design consultant, Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. (SEH), will be present and available to discuss the project at this meeting. Project drawings, location maps, a project information sheet, and a comment form will be provided at the meeting to illustrate the proposed project and allow for feedback. All information will be available on the City’s website (https://www.eauclairewi.gov/government/our-departments/engineering/construction-major-projects/other-major-projects/dewey-street ). Adjacent property owners and users of the bridge (vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians) are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Notice is hereby given that members of the City Council of the City of Eau Claire and members of the City of Eau Claire's various boards, commissions, and committees may be present at the foregoing event to gather information about a subject over which they have decision-making responsibility. This may constitute a meeting of the City Council of the City of Eau Claire and members of the City of Eau Claire's various boards, commissions, and committees pursuant to State ex rel. Badke v. Greendale Village Bd., 173 Wis.2d.553,494 N.W.2d408 (1993), and must be noticed as such, although these governmental bodies will not take any formal action at this meeting.

 

In order to accommodate the participation of individuals with special needs at this meeting, the City will provide the services of a sign language interpreter or make other reasonable accommodations on request. To make such a request, please notify the City at 715-839-4902 at least two days prior to the meeting.
