Outdoor Rinks Closed Due to Warm Weather

Post Date:01/07/2026 1:12 PM

Due to unseasonably warm temperatures this week, Eau Claire Parks, Recreation & Forestry has closed the Boyd, Roosevelt, and Putnam warming shelters beginning today, Wednesday, January 7.  They will remain closed through Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Pinehurst warming shelter will be open for sledding, snowboarding, and Gear Share, except on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

To help preserve the ice, we ask that outdoor rinks not be used when temperatures are above freezing or when standing water is visible. Avoiding use during these conditions helps protect the ice surface and allows the rinks to recover more quickly once colder temperatures return.

An additional update on the availability of the outdoor rink and warming shelter will be shared at the beginning of next week.
