ECPD Notable Case Log 1/26 - 1/29
From 1-26-2026, 7:00AM, to 1-29-2026, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 156 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 44, West District – 46, South District – 66.
January 26, 2026
North District
OMVWI – A caller reported that their spouse hit them and caused them to pull over while they were driving. Officers arrived and found that no domestic incident had occurred, but the caller was intoxicated. They were arrested for OMVWI 1st and cited for OWS. PBT .150.
Drug Incident – Officers were watching vehicle and foot traffic at a known drug house when they observed a person they recognized from prior contacts leave the residence in a vehicle. The person saw the officers in the area and drove in a suspicious manner. The person quickly pulled their vehicle over and walked away on foot. They were contacted and provided inconsistent statements about their travels. An Act 79 search of their person was completed and two gem bags with meth were located. After they were placed into a squad, they notified officers they had another bag of meth in their mouth. They were provided with medical treatment and brought to the jail. They were arrested for Poss. of Meth and a PO hold.
West District
Threats – A caller reported that they were at a home when two “bikers” entered the residence and threatened to shoot two of the occupants. The caller left the home and stated the bikers were still on scene. Officers arrived and spoke to occupants who confirmed some of the details. The residence was cleared and no one was located. An involved vehicle was stopped a short time later and it appears that it was all a civil matter between tenants and no firearms were involved.
Follow Up – Officers were previously sent to a disturbance. They were dispatched back to the same location because a subject entered and asked where two of the tenants were, then left on foot. Officers obtained a description of the person. Officers located the person walking nearby. They provided a false name, but the birth date matched their actual DOB. They were taken into custody for Obstructing, a Chippewa Co warrant, and a DOC warrant. During a search of the person, officers located a meth pipe. They were also arrested for Poss. of Meth, Poss. of Drug Paraphernalia, and felony Bail Jumping (x2).
South District
Death Investigation – Officers were asked to check on a person by the person’s parents because they had missed work and hadn’t been answering their phone. They had a known medical history that caused additional concern. Officers located the person deceased in their bed, no foul play observed.
Warrant – Officers were sent to a hotel for a check welfare. During the welfare check, they contacted a separate subject in the hotel room. That person had an Eau Claire County warrant and was arrested without issue.
Domestic – Officers were called to an apartment building by numerous people about a possible physical domestic in progress. At the residence tenants on site are managed by part-time staff, however no staff was present. Once on scene, officers learned a person became upset that their live-in significant other, wasn’t talking to them. The person destroyed numerous things around the apartment and struck the S/O while yelling at them to leave. They initially only communicated with officers through a closed bedroom door but eventually came out. They had visible injuries and requested medical attention. They were taken into custody for domestic DC, Battery, and Criminal Damage.
January 27, 2026
North District
Traffic - Officers stopped a vehicle for operating without taillights. The driver had a revoked driving status and was ordered in for OAR.
Ordinance Violation – Officers were called to a location for a noise complaint. A previous incident involving the same location was reported last week and they were warned at that time. Officers contacted a resident who admitted they were blasting music. They were issued an ordinance citation.
West District
Traffic - Officers stopped a vehicle operating without its lights activated. A passenger returned with a DOC warrant and BOLO charges for retail theft. They were taken into custody without incident.
Disturbance - Officers were dispatched to a home after a caller reported their 19-year-old child was intoxicated and hurting a dog at the home, as well as attempting to hurt people. Officers contacted the suspect inside the residence. The suspect was cleaning up dog blood from the bathroom floor. They admitted to punching the dog two times with closed fists. Other witnesses reported they had also been kicking and choking the dog. Officers located the dog with blood coming from the nose and mouth. The person was arrested for domestic related DC, Mistreating Animals, and misdemeanor Bail Jumping. The dog was evaluated at a vet clinic before being brought to the Humane Association after the owner signed over rights to the dog.
South District
Mental Health – A case worker requested officers speak with a patient who made statements to their therapist that they planned to end their life and were taking edibles to build up a pain tolerance. Officers spoke with NWC, the therapist, and the patient. They were held on an emergency detention.
South District
Warrant – Officers drove by a business and recognized a vehicle that belonged to a person who they were aware had an Eau Claire County warrant. They were contacted in the store and taken into custody without issue.
Domestic – Person 1 called to report that Person 2 struck them during an argument the night before and was physical with them again on the day of the call. The couple share a child in common. The altercation started because Person 1 discovered Person 2 using Person 1’s cell phone to contact another person they were romantically interested in. Person 2 struck Person 1 in the head causing an injury. Person 2 admitted to striking Person 1 and was arrested for domestic Battery and DC. The 72-hour no contact was enforced.
January 28, 2026
North District
Traffic - Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver returned with an active Chippewa County warrant, a revoked driving status and required an IID. They were arrested on the warrant and OAR.
Warrant Pickup - Officers were detailed to the day resource center for a report that a person was there and had an active probation warrant for their arrest. They were contacted and taken into custody without incident. They were also arrested for a BOLO from a previous fraud case where they used counterfeit money.
West District
Drug Case - Officers monitored a vehicle leaving a known drug house and observed it stop in a parking lot. Officers then began monitoring the vehicle via public space camera and observed the driver snorting drugs. Contact was made with the driver, and they were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle yielded a paraphernalia kit that they had been using to snort methamphetamine. Also located in the vehicle were dozens of prescription pills and a billy club. While at the jail, 7.62 grams of methamphetamine were recovered from the suspect after going through the body scanner and entering the jail. They were arrested for: Poss. of Methamphetamine, Poss. of Drug Paraphernalia, felony Bail Jumping, misdemeanor Bail Jumping, CCW, Poss. of an Illegally Obtained Prescription, Possess Illegal Article by Inmate.
Follow Up – Officers learned a person was in the basement of a residence. That person had BOLO charges after they fled on foot from a stolen car earlier in the week. Officers established a perimeter before making contact with the renter, who gave officers consent to enter. Once the wanted person heard officers make announcements, they pushed a basement window off its frame in an attempt to escape. A K9 officer was waiting outside that window and informed the person if they attempted to flee, they would likely get to meet the dog. The person made the objectively correct decision to walk up the staircase and surrender to officers waiting for them. They were arrested for: OMVWOC, OAR, Obstructing, felony Bail Jumping, and misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
South District
Alarm - Officers responded to a bank early in the morning for a report of multiple motion alarms. The building was secure and a walk through was completed. Nothing of interest was located at that time. Staff later reviewed the security footage and observed a person had been in the building and had left at approximately 3:17AM. The person was located at approximately 12:15PM by bank staff at a nearby restaurant when staff were on their lunch break and recognized them from the video. The person was identified and taken into custody for Trespassing and a PO Hold.
January 29, 2026
North District
Pursuit - Officers attempted to stop a vehicle after learning that the RO had a valid DOC warrant for their arrest. The vehicle briefly pulled into a parking stall. During this time, the officer approached the vehicle and was able to positively ID the driver as the RO. The driver quickly backed the vehicle up and fled at speeds more than 90mph. The pursuit was terminated for safety. The person was out on parole for Poss. with Intent to Deliver Meth >10-50g. Charges were referred and BOLO Cites were added.
Domestic - Officers were detailed to an address for a report of a physical domestic between two siblings involving a knife. Upon arrival, contact was made with Person 1, who was outside. They stated they had a knife and had intended on hurting themselves but no longer felt that way. Person 1 and their sibling, Person 2, had been drinking most of the day. The argument started when Person 1 wanted to drive home to Independence, WI, but Person 2 thought they were too intoxicated to drive. Person 2 hid Person 1’s keys. Person 1 proceeded to punch Person 2 in the head about 10 times, chipping their tooth. Person 1 was arrested for Domestic DC and Substantial Battery. Their PBT was .241.
Warrant Pick Up - During walk through, officers recognized a person at a laundromat. The person had been the subject of a DOC broadcast in which they cut off their GPS monitor. They were taken into custody without issue.
