ECPD Notable Case Log 1/29 - 2/2
From 1-29-2026, 7:00AM, to 2-2-2026, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 224 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 63, West District – 69, South District – 92.
January 29, 2026
North District
OMVWI – Officers stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was arrested for OMVWI 3rd, Poss. Of THC, and Paraphernalia.
Traffic Stop/Warrant Pickup - Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing moving violations and learning the RO had a revoked DL. The passenger in the car had a valid probation warrant and was arrested without incident.
West District
Warrant Pickup - Officers were detailed to the jail lobby at the mutual aid request of ECSO to arrest a person who was there to turn themself in a warrant. They were arrested without incident.

Everybody behaved? No notable cases were logged. We’d like to take a moment and thank everybody for being on their best behavior.
January 31, 2026
North District
Domestic - Officers responded to a domestic between a couple. The argument started because one person spurned the other’s romantic advances. Ultimately one person was arrested for domestic DC, 72 hour waived.
Warrant Pickup - Officers were detailed to a parking ramp for a report that a person was in the parking ramp and in violation of their probation rules. Contact was made with the person, and they were arrested without incident.
West District
Traffic Stop – Officers stopped a person for speeding and operating without taillights. The driver was found to be intoxicated. They failed SFSTs and were arrested for OWI.
Check Person – Hospital staff called to report a person acting strange in the vestibule. Contact was made with the person. They were completely detached from reality and causing a disturbance. A mobile worker responded but could not evaluate them. A chapter was authorized given the behavior.
South District
Death Investigation - Officers responded to an address for a report of a PNB. A resident there died at home prior to hospice being put into place. The person had a lengthy medical history and nothing suspicious was noted. ME responded and detectives were notified.
February 1, 2026
North District
Overdose – Person 1 called 911 because their friend, Person 2, had consumed too much alcohol and was now unconscious and vomiting. Person 1 added that there was something wrong with another friend, Person 3. Officers and EMS arrived and discovered that there was no parental supervision at the home. Person 2 was transported to a hospital for a detox and later flighted to Rochester for further treatment. Person 3 lied about their name, their parent’s name, and provided false information to officers. It was discovered that Person 3 had stolen alcohol from Person 2’s parent the previous night and brought it over tonight to drink. Person 3 also hid several prescription medications prior to officers’ arrival, and it was unknown if any of the pills were consumed with the alcohol. All three were cited for UA and Person 3 was referred for Obstructing and Theft.
OMVWI - Officers stopped a vehicle after observing driving behavior consistent with possible impairment. Contact was made with the driver, who displayed signs of intoxication. They completed and failed SFSTs and were arrested for OWI 1st. PBT = .130.
Retail Theft - Officers investigated an online retail theft case. A suspect was identified as stealing merchandise from a grocery store. Officers contacted the person in the jail as they were already an inmate and served them arrest paperwork.
Warrant – Officers observed a person walking in the area and knew them to have warrants. They had multiple confirmed warrants and were arrested and transported to the jail.
Disorderly- Officers were detailed to a tavern for the report of a former employee that was causing a disturbance and breaking things. Tavern staff identified the suspect. The person was observed destroying the sidewalk sign out front. They left prior to officers arriving and eventually were located by officers. They refused to stop and a short chase was terminated. Another officer was able to locate the person and followed them until they abruptly pulled over. At that point several officers boxed the person in. They attempted to drive away and struck multiple squads. They were resistive and their window needed to be broken out to remove them from the vehicle. EMS responded and the wrap was utilized to get them medically evaluated for clearance before going to jail.
Disturbance - Officers responded to a day resource center when one person threatened another while they were at the center. The problem person stated they were going to “Kill” the other person and created a disturbance. Officers arrived and arrested them for DC. Search incident to arrest revealed methamphetamine. They were arrested for DC, Possession of Methamphetamine and a Probation Hold.
South District
Retail Theft Follow Up - Officers located a person at a gas station and knew they had a BOLO from a previous retail theft. They were issued an ordinance citation for retail theft.
Domestic – Officers investigated a domestic incident between Person 1 and Person 2 overnight. Person 2 was found to be the predominant aggressor, and a BOLO was entered for their arrest. Later in the morning officers responded to the address after Person 1 called to state that Person 2’s GPS watch was showing they were at home. They were contacted and taken into custody on the domestic charges.
Death - Officers were detailed to an independent living facility for a PNB. Upon arrival it was discovered a resident was deceased. They had an extensive medical history, and no foul play was suspected. ME arrived and Detectives notified.
February 2, 2026
North District
Traffic - Officers learned a person would be traveling on the North Crossing in a specific vehicle and that the person had DOC warrant. Officers stopped the vehicle and took the person into custody. Inside the person’s lunch box was drug needles, approximately ten grams of methamphetamine, a taser and various items of drug paraphernalia. They were arrested for: Poss. with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Poss. of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Bail Jumping, Resisting, Poss. of an Electric Weapon, and a DOC warrant.
South District
Warrant – Officers were conducting a walkthrough of a motel when they saw a person walking in the hallway. Officers were aware the person had warrants out of DOC and Dunn County. They were observed getting into a vehicle in the parking lot with another person. Contact was made, and the wanted subject was taken into custody.
Assist UWEC PD - Officers responded to a dorm building to assist UWPD. A safe ride driver advised they received a call from a person stating they had a pistol and AR15 in their hand. The caller was crying and stating they wanted to hurt themselves and others. The caller stated if police arrived with guns the caller would die. Officers responded to the room number given to the Safe Ride driver, set up containment. Other officers met with the driver and took over speaking with the caller, but they hung up shortly after. Ultimately, phone contact was made with the two residents of the room given by the caller, and it was determined to be a “swatting” call.
