ECPD Notable Case Log 3/23 - 3/26
From 3-23-2026, 7:00AM, to 3-26-2026, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 178 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 44, West District – 48, South District – 86.
March 23, 2026
North District
Traffic OWI – An officer stopped a vehicle for operating w/o required lights. The driver showed signs of intoxication. They performed SFSTs and were arrested for OWI 1st Offense. PBT sample was .268. The driver was also cited for Operating w/o Required Lights and Operating w/o Proof of Insurance.
Warrant - Officers recognized a person and knew them to have a felony DOC warrant for their arrest. Contact was made and the person was taken into custody. Search incident to arrest revealed Methamphetimine. The person was transported to the ECCJ and charged with Possession of Meth.
West District
Traffic OWI – An officer stopped a vehicle leaving a bar for an equipment violation and suspicion of OWI. The driver appeared heavily intoxicated upon contact. They attempted SFSTs and refused a PBT. The person was arrested for OWI 5th Offense. A search warrant was obtained for the person’s blood. They were charged with OWI 5th, cited for Illegible Plates, Possession of Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, and placed on a PO hold.
South District
Check Person – A person was located nearby after causing a disturbance at their ex-spouse’s home. The person was intoxicated and in violation of their bond conditions. They were arrested for multiple counts of Bail Jumping.
Sex Assault – Person 1 called to report that their spouse, Person 2, sexually assaulted them. Person 1 was locked inside of a room with their child and child’s friend. Person 2 answered the door and allowed officers inside. Person 2 remained upset and alleged Person 1 had been cheating on them. Person 1 said they woke up to Person 2 assaulting them and immediately called for help. After interviews, Person 2 was arrested for Domestic-related Disorderly Conduct and 3rd Degree Sexual Assault. 72-hour enforced.
March 24, 2026
North District
Fight – An officer was monitoring public space cameras and observed a fight in the lobby of the bus station. Officers responded and contacted Person 1 and Person 2. Person 1 was arrested for DC. Person 2 was arrested for DC and Bail Jumping.
Domestic - Officers were detailed for a report of a domestic disturbance Person 1 and their adult child, Person 2. Person 1 reported Person 2 was upset at them about their cell phone not working properly and threw a large key ring at them. Contact was made with Person 2 at their work and they said they “snapped” at their parent earlier. Person 2 was arrested for Domestic DC. 72hr no contact was waved.
Ordinance Violation – An officer issued warnings to four people 3/23/26 for camping on the sidewalk outside of a shelter. On 3/24/26 they were all camping on the sidewalk again blocking the entire sidewalk prohibiting pedestrian traffic, including having blankets and pillows. One person did not have any pants on. All were cited for public good order and were aware of the Day Resource Center but had chosen not to use the resource.
West District
Check Person - Officers were detailed to attempt to contact Person 1 who had not been to work in two days and did not return their calls. Entry was made into the person’s apartment and the person was found deceased. It appeared their death was a medical event. ME responded and an autopsy was scheduled. Detectives were notified.
South District
Threats - Officers responded to a grocery store for an unknown person who had threatened an employee in the parking lot and attempted to stab them with a knife, which was captured on store surveillance. Officers began checking the area on foot and with a drone. The suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect was uncooperative and secured in a WRAP. They were arrested for 1st Degree Reckless Endangerment, DC and Resisting.
Crash - Officers responded to a car vs light pole crash. The driver of the vehicle left on foot but returned after officers arrived on scene. The person was arrested for OWI 1st.
March 25, 2026
North District
Checking – An officer had contact with Person 1 after they wished to report an assault that occurred in Chippewa County with their parent, Person 2, after Person 2 attempted to smoke a cigarette in their truck and hit Person 1. Person 2 was arrested for a probation hold and Person 1 was advised to report the assault to Chippewa County.
Traffic Stop – An officer observed a motorcycle without a license plate and the driver intentionally rev the engine making excessive noise. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and the driver returned with a revoked driver’s license. The driver was arrested and ordered in for OAR.
West District
Traffic – An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver returned revoked due to an OWI. The driver was ordered in.
Family Trouble - Officers responded for a physical domestic no longer in progress. The caller reported their spouse had gotten physical with them and destroyed property in the house due to their infidelity. The spouse had left on foot prior to officers arrival. Officers located them and arrested them for Domestic-related Battery, DC and Criminal Damage to Property. The 72 hour no contact was waived.
Domestic - Officers responded for a domestic. Person 1 became upset with their live-in significant other for talking to another person on social media. Person 1 broke the victim’s computer during the argument. Person 1 was arrested for Domestic DC and Criminal Damage. 72 hr enforced.
Traffic Stop – An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was showing the registration expired in 2022. Contact was made with the driver. The driver said that they were on their way to the DMV to update their registration and their driver’s license was “no good”. The person returned with a revoked DL and was arrested and ordered in for OAR.
South District
Traffic – An officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The driver returned with a revoked driving status due to an OWI. They were ordered in.
Family Trouble - Officers responded to a hotel after staff reported a physical disturbance taking place in a room between two adults with multiple children also in the room. Officers contacted Person 1 who stated they’d been in an argument with their step-child, who reportedly was being disrespectful. Person 1 admitted they threw their step-child to the ground and pinned them until they’d settled down. Officers contacted the step-child who had scratch marks on their face and a swollen red mark on their neck. They stated Person 1 became upset that they went for a walk without saying they were leaving. Person 1 grabbed them by the neck and threw them to the ground. Person 1 was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Physical Abuse of a Child, Repeated Acts Causing Bodily Harm.
Retail Theft – An officer followed up with a person at their residence and arrested and ordered them in for Retail Theft.
March 26, 2026
West District
Burglary - Officers were dispatched regarding a burglary/home invasion that took place. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspects had fled and contact was made with Person 1 and Person 2, both of whom had injuries consistent with being assaulted. It was learned that Person 3 and Person 4 had been feuding with Person 1 and Person 2 over Snapchat and wanted to fight. Person 3 and 4 went to Person 2’s residence and when the front door was opened, they began assaulting Person 1 and 2. The altercation spilled into the house resulting in several pieces of property being damaged. The entire incident was recorded and posted on Snapchat by Person 5 and Person 6, who were with Person 3 and 4. Investigation is ongoing and sent to detectives for further follow up as the suspects may live in the Elk Mound area.
