ECPD Notable Case Log 3/26 - 3/30
From 3-26-2026, 7:00AM, to 3-30-2026, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 199 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 60, West District – 55, South District – 84.
March 26, 2026
North District
Disturbance - Officers were detailed to a shelter as a person that had previously stayed there was there and refusing to leave. They were banned for 10 days and were arrested on a probation warrant without incident.
West District
Check Person - Officers were detailed to a saloon for a report of a person on the sidewalk that was unresponsive. Contact was made with the person. They woke up and kicked one officer and punched another officer for no apparent reason. The person was taken into custody and EMS responded to help assess them. Once they were medically assessed, they were taken to jail for Battery to Public Officers and cited for Public Intoxication.
South District
Drug Incident - Patrol assisted with multiple arrests reference an ongoing investigation. Person 1 was arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a PO Hold and a warrant. Person 2 was arrested for Possession of Schedule 1 or 2 Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Person 3 was arrested for a PO hold. Person 4 was arrested for Possession of Meth, Possession of Schedule 1 or 2 Narcotic, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and felony Bail Jumping.
Theft (Follow Up) - On 3/24/2026 a car dealership reported a license plate registered to them as stolen after they were notified of unpaid parking citations associated with that license plate. On 3/26/2026 the license plate was located on a vehicle in downtown EC. The occupants of the vehicle were detained. It was learned through the investigation that the vehicle was purchased from that dealership about a year ago and the dealership registered the wrong license plate on the vehicle when it sold so it was not actually stolen.
March 27, 2026
North District
Traffic Stop - Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and contacted the driver. During this contact, the officer observed a hatchet handle sticking out of small bag in the backseat. When asked about this, the driver retrieved the bag and the officer was able to see that the bag also contained concealed knives. For officer safety reasons, the officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle to distance themselves from the bag of blades, which the person refused to do. They eventually exited after being warned that a taser would be utilized. They resisted officers’ efforts to place them into handcuffs and again only complied when they were warned that a taser would be utilized. They were arrested, placed in the WRAP and taken to jail for Possession of THC, Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting, and Threats to LE.
West District
Domestic - Officers responded to a report of a couple fighting. One person was arrested for Violation of a Domestic Abuse Injunction, Bail Jumping and a DOC warrant. The second person was arrested for domestic Battery and DC.
911 Hangup - Officers responded to the area for a report of a 911 open line. Officers arrived and contacted a person. The person looked at their phone and confirmed that they had accidentally dialed 911. Unfortunately for the pocket dialing person, they had an Eau Claire County warrant and were arrested.
South District
Traffic - Officers observed a person driving and were aware that they were revoked and had a Dunn County warrant. A traffic stop was conducted, and the person was arrested for OAR, Failure to Install IID, Possession of THC, Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a warrant.
Animal Bite - Officers and EMS responded to a report of a 16-year-old that was just attacked by a dog. The victim had multiple puncture wounds to their legs. The dog had bitten someone four days prior and was already supposed to be on a vet quarantine. The owner was cited for Dog Running at Large and Dangerous Dog. The owner was informed that they would be ordered to remove the dog from living within the city.
Disturbance - Officers responded to an apartment after tenants of the building called to report a person was yelling at them and flung dog feces on their front step. The person was contacted and admitted to throwing the dog feces. They said they had a lot going on in their life and snapped. They agreed to pick up the waste and were issued a citation for DC.
Domestic - Officers responded to an apartment for a report of a physical altercation between two people. Person 1 was upset at Person 2 because it took longer for Person 2 at the bank to get a business loan than they initially thought it would. Person 1 broke Person 2’s speaker valued at $800-$1,000 and attempted to pull their child from Person 2’s arms when they got home. Person 1 was arrested for domestic DC and Criminal Damage.
March 28, 2026
North District
Bar Check – Officers were conducting random registration checks and one of the plates returned to a person who was out on bond with conditions not to possess or consume alcohol. The vehicle was observed parked in a tavern parking lot. The person was contacted in the bar and arrested for felony Bail Jumping. Search incident to arrest turned up 1.15g of cocaine.
Traffic – Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and arrested the driver for OAR without incident.
West District
Traffic - Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and contacted the driver and a passenger. Both had valid warrants for their arrest and were taken into custody without issue.
Domestic - Officers were detailed to an address regarding a domestic in which the victim was assaulted and strangled by Person 1. Person 1 left the residence and was located by an officer as they were traveling with no lights and at a high rate of speed. A short pursuit ensued before officers terminated the pursuit for safety. They drove through an area at a high rate of speed as patrons were emptying out of bars and taverns due to it being bar close; thankfully no one was hurt. Another officer located the person traveling nearby and another short pursuit ensued before the person pulled over, exited the vehicle and began walking at officers. They fought with officers, were taken into custody, and were placed in the WRAP. They were arrested for OMVWI 1st, Battery, Strangulation, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Resisting.
March 29, 2026
North District
Burglary - Officers responded to a report of a person who was found sleeping in an unlocked car on the property. The person then entered the garage and was attempting to kick the door to the house down. Officers arrived on scene and took the person into custody. Search incident to arrest yielded a prescription pill. They were transported to the jail and made threats to officers along the way. They were arrested for Burglary, DC, Threats to Individual Involved with the Judicial Process, Possession of an Illegally Obtained Prescription and a PO hold.
Family Trouble - Neighbors reported hearing yelling and things dropping from an upstairs unit. Officers arrived and could hear yelling to include someone yelling for help. Officers eventually contacted the resident. They denied any disturbance between any other people and stated they had been yelling because they had a long day. They were arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
Crash - Officers responded to a hit and run crash. The suspect lived nearby and returned to the scene to meet with officers. They admitted to striking the vehicle that was backing from a driveway. They stated, “I am above the Wisconsin limit, maybe even the Country limit.” They volunteered that they consumed 11 beers and 3 tequila shots at 7 different bars prior to the crash. They performed SFTS and were arrested for OMVWI-1st and Hit and Run Attended.
West District
Warrant Pick Up – Officers assisted ECSO with a mutual aid request and took a person into custody when they came to jail to turn themselves in on a warrant.
Criminal Damage - Officers were detailed to a report someone had driven by pedestrians and threw things at them. It was learned the suspects initially threw bread at the group and then returned and threw change at them, causing damage to a parked car. The suspect vehicle was later located and was occupied by four teenagers. All four were ordered in for Criminal Damage and cited for DC.
Traffic - Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon stopping the vehicle, an odor of marijuana was detected. The driver admitted to recently smoking marijuana in the vehicle. They also had a young child in the vehicle. A search yielded numerous drug items. They were arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, THC, Drug Paraphernalia, and felony Bail Jumping. DHS was contacted about the child and a safety plan established.
Theft – Officers observed a vehicle with expired plates. A stop was conducted and the driver had a BOLO for this theft case so they were ordered in.
South District
Assist Fire - Officers responded to a fire alarm call with additional information of a fight between neighbors taking place. It was determined Person 1 and Person 2 had a physical fight over suspicions of cheating. Person 2 could be heard on a video stating “swing on me and I will stab you.” Person 1 admitted to pulling the fire alarm and stated they did so because they didn’t know what else to do. Person 2 was arrested for domestic DC, Battery, and a PO hold. 72-hr was enforced. Person 1 was arrested for felony Bail Jumping (no-contact violation with Person 2) and False Alarms.
Family Trouble - Officers responded to a child custody exchange that turned into a physical altercation. Person 1 shares a child with Person 2. Person 2 was late picking up their child, and per their custody agreement, forfeited their time with the child as a result. Person 2 found Person 1 and the child in a parking lot and began screaming and climbed on top of the hood of Person 1’s vehicle, scratching the hood and breaking off the wiper blade. Person 1 and the child escaped. Person 2 was later arrested for domestic DC and Criminal Damage.
March 30, 2026
North District
Check Person – A passerby reported seeing a person attempting to break into a substation facility by smashing the pad lock with a rock. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the person. A strong odor of marijuana was detected from the person’s vehicle. A search yielded 15.75 grams of marijuana and a pistol under the driver seat. The person was a convicted felon for Aggravated Assault to Law Enforcement with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery and Burglary. They were arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of THC.
South District
Traffic - Officers conducted a random registration check and noted the RO had a suspended driving status. Officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the RO and a passenger. Officers observed the passenger drop a clear plastic baggie containing .38 grams of methamphetamine on the side of the road. The passenger was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.
