ECPD Notable Case Log 4/2 - 4/6
From 4-2-2026, 7:00AM, to 4-6-2026, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 168 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 54, West District – 48, South District – 66.
April 2, 2026
South District
Warrant - Officers responded to the DOC Office and took a person who was on probation into custody without incident.
April 3, 2026
West District
Bail Jumping – Officers followed up with a self-report complaint that Person 1 contacted Person 2 numerous times by letter, and by jail phone calls and messaging. Person 1 was in custody in the Chippewa County jail. There was an open Eau Claire County case with a no contact restriction for Person 2. Officers reviewed the letters, as well as the jail call/message logs. Person 1 was arrested for misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Disturbance – Officers responded to a report of a person pointing a handgun at another driver after a road rage incident with the vehicles stopped in the roadway on a bridge. Based upon the investigation, it was learned that Person 1 stopped their vehicle in the roadway and approached the vehicle behind them, which was being driven by Person 2. Person 1 was upset because Person 2 was tailgating them. Person 1 attempted to open Person 2’s door and reached into Person 2’s vehicle through the open window, grabbing them. Person 2 drew a handgun from the center console and pointed it at Person 1 and directed them to get away. Person 2 exited their vehicle with the handgun and Person 2 returned to their vehicle. Person 1 was arrested and ordered in for DC and Person 2 was cited for Exhibition Driving.
Assist EMS – Officers and EMS were detailed to an assisted living facility for a PNB. A resident was found deceased by staff in their apartment. The resident had signed a DNR and no lifesaving efforts were attempted. Detectives were notified.
South District
Traffic Stop - Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle showing expired registration. The operator was cited and arrested for OAR.
Warrant – Officers were dispatched to a grocery store for a possible retail theft in progress. Staff saw a person put a bottle of wine in their backpack and go to the bathroom. Officers contacted the person who had already removed the bottle and showed an empty backpack. Unfortunately for them, they had a Chippewa County warrant for their arrest. As the person started to walk outside, they tried to run away but were cornered at the entrance. They were taken into custody, and a search yielded three drug pipes. They were arrested for the warrant, Resisting/Obstructing, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Crash Follow Up – Officers followed up with a person and ordered them in for Hit and Run Attended and felony Bail Jumping from a crash that occurred on 4/1/26 in a superstore parking lot.
April 4, 2026
North District
Disorderly - Officers were sent to an overnight shelter for a person who was trying to fight people. Contact made with Person 1, who was the problem party, but a lack of information and limited evidence led to a warning. Five minutes after clearing the first call, a second call was received advising that Person 1 was fighting people again. Officers located the person in the alleyway and other people were restraining them. The bystanders advised that Person 1 had just thrown a cutting instrument on the roof and had struck people. Person 1 was taken into custody but sought medical attention. A short time later, they were taken to jail for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting/Obstructing.
Assist EMS - Officers and EMS were detailed to a home for a PNB. The resident was found deceased by their adult child. Nothing suspicious was noted, and it appeared to be a likely medical event. ME responded and detectives were notified.
West District
Domestic - Officers were detailed to a residence for a report of a physical domestic. Person 1 called to report that their spouse, Person 2, had filed for divorce three weeks ago and now was dating other people, which made Person 1 upset. Person 2 was recording Person 1, and Person 1 tried to take their phone away from them. Person 2 pushed Person 1 to the ground. Person 2 reported that Person 1 was also dating other people and was chasing Person 2 around the house and trying to take their phone. Person 2 tried recording this which caused Person 1 to take the phone and chase them around the house. Person 2 would push Person 1 away as they were being chased, and Person 1 bit their finger. Person 1 also scratched Person 2’s face and neck. Person 1 was arrested for domestic DC and Battery. 72hr no contact waved.
Domestic - Officers responded to a possible physical domestic in progress. Contact was made with Person 1 and Person 2, and it was determined no crime had occurred. However, running Person 2’s information it was learned they had a valid probation warrant, and they were arrested without issue on the warrant.
OMVWI – Officers stopped a vehicle and suspected the driver, Person 1, to be impaired. Other officers arrived to assist as the passenger, Person 2, was a problem. Eventually Person 1 was arrested for OMVWI and Person 2 for Resisting/Obstructing. A search of the vehicle revealed a larger amount of cash and a bag of powder that was suspected to be a drug but was inconclusive upon field testing.
Warrant PU – Officers were detailed to a home after a DOC warrant was issued for a person. They were contacted and arrested without incident.
South District
Crash/OMVWI - Officers were detailed to a single vehicle crash. Contact was made with the vehicle owner, who showed signs of intoxication. They refused fields and provided a PBT of .295. They were arrested for OMVWI 1st. They agreed to a blood draw. They were cited/arrested for OMVWI 1st and traffic citations.
Crash - Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Person 1 failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of a vehicle being driven by Person 2. Person 2 sustained minor injuries. Person 1 was cited and arrested for OWL 2nd Offense and cited for Operating Without Insurance and Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
Drug Investigation - Officers contacted Persons 1, 2 and 3 as they were in a parked vehicle. The vehicle registration was expired, and the driving behavior just prior to the vehicle parking was suspicious. The driver, Person 1, was revoked and also subject to ACT 79. A search was conducted, and officers located numerous pieces of paraphernalia that tested positive for fentanyl. Person 1 was arrested for several drug charges and four counts of felony Bail Jumping.
Crash/OWI – Officers responded to a single vehicle crash. A single vehicle had struck a power pole. The operator showed signs of impairment and failed SFSTs, PBT .281. They were arrested for OMVWI 1st and received several citations.
Warrant PU - Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding and driving erratically. Contact was made with the driver, who gave one name, but a driver’s license issued by another country showed a different name. They had a valid EC County warrant and were taken into custody. They continued to lie about their identity and were arrested or Obstructing as well.
April 5, 2026
North District
Check Person – Officers were detailed to a tavern for a report of a person sleeping at the bar. The person was eventually identified. They were intoxicated in violation of their bond conditions. They were medically cleared and arrested for four counts of misdemeanor Bail Jumping and a Probation Hold. They were also cited for Public Intoxication.
Retail Theft Follow Up - Officers spoke to a person at the jail in reference to a previous retail theft from a grocery store. The person admitted to the theft and was arrested for Retail Theft and Bail Jumping.
West District
Traffic Stop – Officers stopped a vehicle for equipment violations. The driver was arrested for a DOC warrant, and meth was located on their person. Additional paraphernalia and meth were located in the vehicle. They were also arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Criminal Traffic - Officers stopped a person for failing to stop for a stop sign. While in contact with the driver, it was learned they were revoked. They were ordered in for OAR.
South District
Traffic Stop – Officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver was ordered in for Operating after Revocation.
Theft – Staff at a gas station reported a person stole cigarettes, a lighter, and coffee. Officers located the person a short distance away. They were uncooperative and resisted arrest. They grabbed an officer’s holstered Taser and were ultimately decentralized. They were arrested for Resisting – Causing Soft Tissue Injury, Retail Theft, Possession of THC, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Disorderly Conduct.
Warrant Pickup – Officers recognized a person biking in the area and knew the person had an Eau Claire County warrant. They were arrested for the warrant, and drugs and paraphernalia were found on their person. They were also arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, felony Bail Jumping, and misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
April 6, 2026
North District
Traffic Stop – Officers stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. A passenger was arrested for a St. Croix County warrant and a DOC warrant.
Assist Law – Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office requested ECPD check an address for a person. The person was contacted and arrested for a DOC warrant.
Traffic Stop – Officers stopped a driver for multiple violations and ordered them in for Operating after Revocation.
West District
Assist Law – Dunn County Sheriff’s Office requested officers take a person into custody for bail jumping offenses in their county. The person was initially uncooperative with officers but was taken into custody and turned over to DCSO.
South District
Domestic Disturbance – A couple had been experiencing relationship issues due to Person 1 “hanging out” with another person. Tonight, Person 1 became upset and struck their partner in the face. They were arrested for Domestic Disorderly Conduct and Battery. The 72 Hour was waived.
