Road Detours and Closures - Eau Claire Marathon This Weekend

Post Date:04/28/2026 9:18 AM

Eau Claire Marathon This Weekend!

Get ready, Eau Claire—it’s marathon weekend! We’re excited to welcome runners, families, and fans from across the country and around the world for one of the premier race events in the nation and a Boston Marathon qualifying race. This is more than a race—it’s a celebration of community, energy, and connection. Let’s come together to showcase our city at its very best, cheer loud, lend a hand, and make every visitor feel right at home.

Events include a 5K, 10K, Kids Fun Run, half marathon, relay marathon, and full marathon.  An event this big covers much of downtown and in some areas will impact traffic and require detours or in some cases closures.

Below you'll find street impacts and the hours in which those detours or closures may occur.  Please review the information and plan ahead for detours and temporary closures.

A big change this year will be the additional closures of northbound State St. from the top of the State St. hill through the 3rd Ward, and the closure of the Water St. Bridge and Summit Avenue. From 8:45 a.m. to - 2 p.m. on Sunday, no traffic will be allowed to go North on State St. into the 3rd Ward.  Individuals can leave the 3rd Ward by going South on State St. Drivers can expect to wait for runners to pass at Roosevelt and State.

Please use extreme caution when driving in course areas as there will be many excited supporters and runners - we want everyone to have a safe and successful weekend.
