The City Council is pleased to announce that Mr. David Solberg has been named as the finalist for appointment to the position of City Manager for the City of Eau Claire.
Mr. Solberg currently serves as Interim City Manager for the City of Eau Claire and has held a variety of leadership roles during his more than 12 years with the organization. Most recently serving as Deputy City Manager, he previously held the position of Engineering Director/City Engineer. He has also twice served as Interim Community Services Director and previously served as Interim City Manager from 2020 to 2022.
Prior to joining the City of Eau Claire, Mr. Solberg worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a Project Development Supervisor. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh to support his continued leadership in municipal government.
Throughout his time with the City, Mr. Solberg has demonstrated thoughtful leadership, operational expertise, professionalism, and a strong commitment to community collaboration and public service. His experience working across departments and guiding complex public infrastructure and organizational initiatives has earned the respect of City staff, Council members, and community partners alike.

The City Council will consider the terms and conditions of an employment agreement and the appointment of Mr. Solberg to the position of City Manager during the June 9, 2026, Legislative Session. Pending Council approval, he is expected to formally begin serving as City Manager on June 10, 2026.
