EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A short section of Water Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, June 15, 2026, to allow a private business to complete water and sanitary sewer utility upgrades.

The closure is expected to begin Monday morning and remain in place through Thursday evening. Motorists will be detoured around the block via 5th Avenue, Chippewa Street, and 6th Avenue.

Construction activities will take place during daytime hours. Weather permitting, all work is expected to be completed and the roadway reopened by Friday afternoon, June 19.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time while traveling through the downtown area.
