The City of Eau Claire will conclude its Northern Lite microtransit pilot program effective Friday, July 3, 2026.

Northern Lite launched in July 2025 as a one-year pilot program to evaluate how an on-demand, shared-ride transit service would complement Eau Claire Transit by providing a flexible transportation option for residents.

Throughout the pilot, riders were able to book curb-to-curb trips through the Northern Lite app or by phone. The program also provided accessible transportation options for riders with mobility needs.

The City appreciates everyone who participated in the pilot program and provided valuable feedback over the past year. The information gathered during the pilot will help inform future transit planning and transportation initiatives.

Northern Lite service will end at the close of business on Friday, July 3, 2026. Residents may continue to use Eau Claire Transit’s fixed-route bus service for their public transportation needs.  Route and rate information is available online at ECBus.org.
