Location

While renovations of City Hall take place, we are temporarily located at 2020 Prairie Lane in Eau Claire, which is just north of the North Crossing.

Anticipated completion date for City Hall renovations is Summer 2019. We would then return to our permanent location at 203 S. Farwell Street in downtown Eau Claire at that time.

Department Responsibilities

Design, survey, construction & inspection of municipal infrastructure including streets, sanitary sewer, water, storm water, bridges, trails, parks, plazas, and buildings as outlined in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

Department Functions 

Prepare and administer the special assessment program.
Maintain official engineering records and maps.
Oversee and maintain the emergency warning system, geographic information systems (GIS) program and parking operations.
Provide engineering assistance to other city departments and coordinate contracted consulting engineering services as needed.

 

Department Objectives

Infrastructure Construction
Plan, design, inspect and administer infrastructure construction projects and provide technical assistance on infrastructure to other city departments and the public.
Planning Assistance
Provide planning assistance for subdivisions, commercial, and industrial developments and future street and utility needs.
Development Agreements
Prepare and monitor development agreements for installation of utilities and streets in new developments.
Special Assessment Program
Record, compute, and coordinate the special assessment program.
Pavement Management System
Update and maintain the pavement management system.
Flood Protection
Monitor and coordinate flood protection.
Land Parcel & City Infrastructure Information
Provide city property owners, developers, internal operating departments, and visitors with accurate information on land parcels and city infrastructure in a cost-efficient manner and facilitate community development and public infrastructure improvements.
Emergency Warning Sirens
Assure that all emergency warning sirens are in good operating condition and ready for use; conduct monthly operating tests.
Technical Support
Provide technical support to the Community Development & Community Services departments.
