Enforcement of parking regulations and codes is provided by the City of Eau Claire's Police Department and Neighborhood Services Division.

How am I supposed to know all the parking regulations?

It is the responsibility of every motor vehicle operator to know and understand all laws and ordinances that pertain to parking.

February 2025: New Parking Study Accepted

Downtown Parking Community Discussion

Thursday, 4/10/25 from 12pm - 2pm at City Hall (North Conf. Rm.)

A Comprehensive Downtown Parking Study was completed in 2015, and the City Council approved a purchase recommendation in March 2019 for an update to this study. Following this approval, an updated parking study took place, which focused on the downtown business districts, Third Ward & Historic Randall Park & North Riverfronts Neighborhoods.

Preliminary findings and updates were presented in Fall 2019 followed by an update in November 2020. 

A new draft parking study was presented in January 2025. Final parking study findings were presented to City Council during a public discussion held on 2/10/25 with City Council acceptance of this new parking study at their 2/11/25 legislative session.

Some lots provide longer restricted time frames during the week and some lots have no restrictions at all during evenings or on weekends.

Paid parking is available adjacent to the public library and in several of the downtown parking lots.

Enforcement & Rate

Paid parking & 2-hour parking is enforced 6am to 6pm with the exception of holidays. Parking fees must be paid via the Passport App.

Paid parking rates are $0.50 per hour. The exception to this rate is the City's lot located at the corner of S. Barstow Street and Grand Avenue, which are $1.00 per hour. View Parking Lots & Ramps. for additional details.

Monthly ramp and quarterly lot permits are available for purchase via Passport Parking. View parking rates for details on the fees associated with these permits, which are dependent on the location and type of permit being purchased.
