Program Overview
Sidewalk Removal & Replacement
The City of Eau Claire's sidewalk repair and installation program consists of the removal and replacement of damaged or unsafe concrete sidewalks and anything damaging to the sidewalks such as trees or tree roots.
This program also includes the installation of sidewalks to close out any gaps to improve the safety of pedestrian walkways. This is in addition to the repair of damaged or unsafe sidewalks.
Wisconsin Statutes 66.0907 is used for the repair and construction of sidewalks.
Reporting an Unsafe Sidewalk Concern
Sidewalks are replaced based on condition and not age; please contact Engineering at 715-839-4934 to report a sidewalk concern or use the form below to submit your concern electronically. Please note the form below is to report missing, cracked, or heaved sidewalk that needs repair. (Snow covered sidewalk concerns are reported to Neighborhood Services and not Engineering.)
Submit a Sidewalk Repair Form to Engineering if you'd like to report missing, cracked or heaved sidewalk concerns.
When will the Sidewalk be Fixed?
Sidewalk concerns received by December 31st are added to the list of potential repairs for the following construction year. Upon receipt of a concern, Engineering staff will conduct an inspection of the reported sidewalk. The extent of the repairs will be determined following the completion of the inspection.
