Eau Claire County youth report drinking alcohol mostly at home or a friend's home. Be sure it's NOT happening in your home!

We are concerned about youth using alcohol because it is unsafe, unhealthy, and illegal.  Our local data tells us that the best way to reduce underage drinking is to make alcohol less available to youth.  That’s why the theme for this year’s campaign is “Be sure it’s NOT happening in your home.”  Parents play an important role in reducing youth access to alcohol.

Be sure kids can’t get alcohol from YOUR home.

  • especially if there are kids in grades 7-12 living in or visiting your home
  • Monitor your supply
  • Store alcohol safely – lock it up
  • Supervise more - especially on weekends. Be aware that your kids or their friends may become creative to test your resolve.

About the Parents Who Host campaign...

This national campaign was originally designed to make parents aware that hosting parties and serving alcohol to other people's kids was against the law, and could prove very costly.  Fine amounts and potential liability are reasons given to help parents weigh the possible cost of hosting underage parties.

In Eau Claire County...

We run our campaign annually in April through early June. Locally we've moved the campaign beyond discussing just the legal issues and aim to inform parents about the important role they play in their son or daughter's decision about whether or not to drink.

The 9th Annual Parents Who Host Campaign in Eau Claire County has a theme of "Be sure it's NOT happening in your home" and encourages parents take steps to ensure underage drinking isn't happening in their own home.
