Wisconsin Historical Society Awards

The Wisconsin Historical Society gives three awards annually for nominated projects eligible in this category. Two awards are given for historic restoration projects and one for historic preservation. Exemplary projects receiving these awards demonstrate a part of Wisconsin's historical, architectural, archaeological, or cultural heritage being restored or preserved.

2023 Historic Preservation Award

The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Omaha Railroad Bridge (aka The High Bridge)

The Historic Preservation Award recognizes the best work in protecting a threatened historic property in Wisconsin, which may be a building, structure, object, site or district. The City of Eau Claire was presented this award on Friday, October 13, 2023  for the High Bridge project.

APWA National Awards

The APWA Awards Program  recognizes outstanding individuals, groups and chapters representing the best in public works. Individuals and groups receive awards for their professional contributions and are recognized annually for their achievements at the annual APWA Awards Recognition Ceremony.

2023 Small Cities/Rural Communities Project of the Year:
Historical Restoration/Preservation

High Bridge Rehabilitation

The City of Eau Claire received a 2023 Public Works Project of the Year award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities Historical Restoration/Preservation category. Award winners are recognized at the yearly PWX (Public Works Expo) events, and PWX 2023 will take place in San Diego, California from August 27-30, 2023.

Eau Claire City Hall Remodel 

The City of Eau Claire received a 2020 Public Works Project of the Year award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities Historical Restoration/Preservation category. Award winners of 2020 were recognized virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Transportation

Grand Avenue Half Moon Lake Bridge Replacement 

The City of Eau Claire received a 2019 Public Works Project of the Year award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities Transportation category. Award winners are recognized at the yearly PWX (Public Works Expo) events, and PWX 2019 took place in Seattle, Washington from September 8-11, 2019. City Engineer Dave Solberg attended and accepted the award on behalf of the City.

APWA Wisconsin Chapter Awards

APWA Wisconsin Chapter recognizes collaboration & efforts of multiple firms working together on the completion of public works projects with these awards. Awards are presented at the annual spring conference.

2020 Project of the Year

The 2020 spring conference was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grand Avenue Half Moon Lake Bridge Replacement

The 2019 spring conference was held on May 9, 2019, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. City Engineer Dave Solberg attended and accepted the award on behalf of the City.

Downtown Eau Claire Awards

Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) celebrates Downtown Eau Claire with these awards, which are a night to recognize the many reasons Downtown Eau Claire is such a wonderful place to be.
