The duties of the City of Eau Claire’s ADA Coordinator will include the coordination of the city’s efforts to comply with and fulfill its responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act title II regulations. The city’s ADA Coordinator will investigate any complaint communicated to the city alleging its noncompliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II regulations or alleging any actions that would be prohibited by the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II regulations. In response to complaints from the public, individuals with disabilities, or organizations representing individuals with disabilities, the ADA Coordinator will follow the City of Eau Claire grievance procedure

The office of the City Attorney represents the City of Eau Claire in legal matters. This includes rendering advice about City matters to the City Council and City staff; handling litigation; drafting and approving the form of ordinances, resolutions, and other documents; and handling all other legal matters affecting the City.

The City Clerk is the legal custodian of official city records and is the filing agency for numerous reports and documents such as oaths, bonds, council nomination papers and candidate financial reports. The Clerk's Office drafts the City Council agendas, records the proceedings and prepares the minutes for the City Council meetings. The Clerk is legally responsible for licensing, but applications and process questions are handled by our Licensing expert who is part of Treasury.

The Engineering Department is responsible for the design, survey, construction & inspection of municipal infrastructure including streets, sanitary sewer, water, storm water, bridges, trails, parks, plazas, and buildings as outlined in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The department also prepares and administers the special assessment program, oversees and maintains the emergency warning system, geographic information system (GIS) program and parking operations.

Finance Administration is a division of the Finance department providing financial guidance and planning. Responsibilities include the preparation of the annual operating budget, the Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), project plans for Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) districts, property acquisitions, issuance of debt, and supervision of the other divisions within the Finance department.

The Housing Authority is responsible for housing assistance, housing rehabilitation loans. The There are nine federally funded housing programs in the city that are implemented by the Housing Authority under the guidance of the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners and funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Housing Division administers the City of Eau Claire's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs. The CDBG and HOME programs are funded annually by HUD to provide decent housing, suitable living environments and expanded economic opportunities, principally for persons who are income eligible.

The Inspection Services Division reviews plans, issues permits and inspects new construction and remodeling work within the City of Eau Claire. This includes work relating to building construction, heating and air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and sign installation. The Division also enforces City ordinances relating to the floodplain, zoning, and land use.
Please note: We do not accept inspection requests via voicemail or email. Inspection requests are required 24 hours in advance, but no later than 3pm, of needing an inspection.
