The cost of sidewalk repairs assessed to the property owner varies, because the City gets a new contract each year. The exact cost of the repairs is not known until the list of potential sidewalk repairs is compiled & a bid is solicited from contractors to repair those sidewalks.
There is a possibility that your private property area could be affected. The repair process affects anything from the boulevard to the City Right-of-Way (ROW) Line, which varies. Any private property area affected by construction will be restored, however.
If you have any irrigation system or landscaping items located in the City Right-of-Way, you will want to locate these items & remove them prior to the start of construction. The contractor cannot guarantee the condition of these items once the sidewalk repair construction begins.
Abutting property owners are responsible for the maintenance of the sidewalk. You do not have to wait and receive notification of your property being a required repair within the sidewalk repair program if you notice it is unsafe or damaged.
Property owners choosing to complete the sidewalk repairs or work with a contractor on their own should:
