Park Pride
If your family, group or organization is looking for an opportunity to take an active role in keeping Eau Claire beautiful, there are several ways you can volunteer:
- Adopt-a-Park, Adopt-a-Trail, Adopt-a-Flowerbed: Volunteers pick up litter, report vandalism, weed flowerbeds or help with special projects.
- Park or Trail Clean-up: This is a one-time cleanup of a park or trail area.
Youth Sport Coaches
Parks and Recreation relies on volunteer coaches for several youth sports; baseball, flag football, soccer, and t-ball. If you have any experience in any of these sports, consider sharing your knowledge and time as a youth sports coach. You will be asked to complete an application before you begin coaching, which includes a background check.

Resident vs. Non-Resident
Your family is considered "Residents" if you pay your property taxes to the City of Eau Claire. If you pay your property taxes to the City of Eau Claire, you are eligible to take the City Resident Discounted Fee. Your family is considered "Non-Residents" if you pay your property taxes to a Township do not live in Eau Claire. If you pay your property taxes to a Township, you will have to pay the full Program Fee.
Refund Policies
- A full refund will be issued for any program cancelled by Parks and Recreation (Not subject to Administrative Fee).
- A full refund is available if Parks and Recreation makes changes to the original program schedule and you can no longer participate. (Not subject to Administrative Fee).
- A refund will be issued for a program if Parks and Recreation is notified of your cancellation 72-hours prior to the start of the program. Refund subject to Administrative Fee.
- All program transfers/cancellations must be done by emailing recreation@eauclairewi.gov with the participant's name and classes to be cancelled (cancellations subject to Administrative Fee).
- Refunds will not be issued for Fairfax Pool Memberships or EC RecPass Punch Cards.
- Youth Leagues - 75% of the program fee may be refunded up to the first day of program (Refund subject to Administrative Fee). No refunds after schedules have been completed.
- Refunds will not be issued for Adult Athletic Team registration fees after schedules have been completed (Refund subject to Administrative Fee).
- Shelter/Pavilion reservations are eligible for a refund if the cancellation is received 5 business days prior to the event (Refund subject to Administrative Fee).
- If your account is credited with a refund or an overpayment is made, you will be issued a credit card refund (please allow up to 10 business days for processing) or check in 1-2 weeks. Patrons are not allowed to leave credit balances on their accounts.
Payment by Credit Card
Parks and Recreation accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa for all registration and program payments. Personal information is safe and secure. Registration forms which include credit card numbers will be shredded immediately after processing.
Read Your Receipt
Read your receipt to verify that you and/or your family members are enrolled in the correct class/session. Any program changes in dates, times, special requirements, will be noted there. If you do not receive a receipt, call our office at (715) 839-5032.
One Household Only
In order to help ensure that the registration process is fair to all, you may only register for members of your immediate household. It is not acceptable for one person to register neighbors/friends/extended relatives along with their own registrations. Only a parent/legal guardian may register youth participants.
Scholarship Program Renewals
Patrons will be asked each calendar year to verify their eligibility for the Scholarship Program. Upon renewal, Patrons must show Proof of Address, ID, and Proof of Assistance (sorry, no FoodShare cards are accepted, letters only). Patrons who live within the City of Eau Claire City Limits and pay property taxes to the City of Eau Claire are eligible. Patrons who reside in Townships are not eligible.
Register First
Class registrations are NOT accepted at program sites. People MUST register PRIOR to participate in ANY program through one of the above methods. Be prepared to show your receipt at the first-class session. Waitlisted participants will be contacted by Recreation office staff only when space is available in the program.
Program Conduct Statement
It is our goal to provide safe and inclusive activities and facilities at all times. Improper conduct including but not limited to inappropriate language, inappropriate physical contact, abuse of staff or other patrons, theft, vandalism, or any other illegal activities are not tolerated. In consideration of the safety and security of our staff and patrons, ECPRF reserves the right to remove anyone from current or future participation in or attendance at ECPRF activities or facilities in the event of improper conduct, including involving ECPD if necessary.
1st Day attendance policy
First day attendance is required for all sessions of summer school partnership programs with a $0 ECASD resident cost. On the first day, no shows will be removed from the class to accommodate waitlist additions. If your family schedule has changed prohibiting your child from attending the program, please email recreation@eauclairewi.gov so we can remove your child from the roster. If you need to cancel your child's registration, please allow at least a 72-hour cancellation notice.
Creating an Account
Click here to register for our activities! You must create a personal account with a user ID and password. An email will be sent confirming new account; you must click link to activate new accounts. Online registrations have priority over mailed and faxed registration. If you happen to forget your account login information, please email recreation@eauclairewi.gov and a new, temporary password will be setup for you.

DO NOT create a new account if you are having trouble logging in to an existing account. Creating duplicate accounts causes errors within our registration software and may prevent you from registering.

Registrations mailed to our office are time stamped and processed in the order they are received. Mailing applications does not guarantee admission into a class. We recommend registering online to better ensure that your child may be enrolled in the classes that are chosen.
Activity & League Registrations
Log in to your account, then go to the “Activities” tab and either type in the name of the program, hover over the different activity categories or search the program code. Once the activity is on your screen, click on “Enroll Now” and follow the registration steps.
Fairfax Pool Memberships
Log in to your account, then go to the tab titled “Memberships”. In the Search Packages space, type in membership you’re interested in purchasing; individual or family. Check out and pay the fee. An email will be sent confirming registration. If you're using a Mobile Device, please click the three sidebars on the homepage and click on "View Full Site". Once you do that, you are able to view the Membership Options.
Waitlists
If classes are full, patrons are encouraged to join the waitlist in the event that an opening occurs. If your children are taken off the waitlist, our Recreation Administrative Office will either call or email the number and/or email listed on your account. Patrons will typically have 24 hours to respond. If we do not hear back from you, your child will be removed from the waitlist and the next child on the waitlist will be contacted.

Lifeguard Training Full Course
This Red Cross Course trains and certifies successful participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. The lifeguard certification requires a standard number of hours for classroom, pool, and online training. Successful completion requires being present for all classes, completing online training modules (BEFORE class starts), attaining at least an 80% on the written exam and demonstrating proficiency in all skills. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross certificate that indicates Lifeguarding/First Aid CPR/AED and is valid for 2 years. See full class description at: http://activenet.active.com/Eauclaire/. Materials: Students must possess a copy of the Lifeguarding Manual released February 2024. A free version of the book may be downloaded at www.redcrossstore.org or a printed version of the book that may be purchased online at www.redcrossstore.org for approximately $35. Students are encouraged to bring their own pocket mask. A limited number will be available for students to borrow.
Lifeguard Recertification BL Course
The primary purpose of a recertification course is to give participants who are CURRENTLY CERTIFIED OR WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EXPIRATION DATE, American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) the opportunity to review the course knowledge and skills within a formal course setting to maintain their American Red Cross Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) certification. An email will be sent to all participants within 2 weeks of the course start date outlining the course details and online training.
Babysitters Training w/ Pediatric First AID/CPR
In this class you learn how to: Respond to emergencies with first aid, rescue breathing; make good decisions under pressure; communicate effectively with parent; recognize safety and hygiene issues; manage young children; feed, diaper, and care for infants; start your babysitting business.
Pet First Aid (Cats & Dogs)
Learn how to check vital signs on cats and dogs, preventative care and how to recognize and provide first aid for the most serious emergencies.
Par-te-Rec (Ages 18+)

Summer outdoor Par-Te-Rec is for individuals with varying abilities and exceptionalities, ages 18 and older. Participants will experience various activities which focus upon socialization, aspiring to personal challenges, and building self-confidence. Some of the planned activities include dances, games, crafts, and much more. All activities will be scheduled at McDonough Park. Transportation is not provided for this program.
Camp Summertime (Ages 6-12, 13-21)

This special populations’ camp is operated in an integrated format where all participants work with and assist each other. This program is designed to accommodate various abilities. Activities are planned considering all abilities to encourage individuals to challenge themselves. Activities include arts and crafts, games, sports, music, storytelling, and off-site trips. Transportation is not provided for this program.

Exploring Soccer
During this week-long program, participants will experience and explore a variety of soccer skills while gaining confidence. Staff will lead age-appropriate activities.
Exploring T-Ball
During this program, little sluggers will learn t-ball skills such as base running, hitting, catching, and throwing while participating in age-appropriate activities and games. Participants will also gain confidence and build social skills. Players need to bring their own glove.
Exploring Basketball
During this week-long program, participants will experience and explore a variety of basketball skills while gaining confidence. Staff will lead age-appropriate activities.

Half Pint Soccer (Age 4)
The Half-Pint Soccer programs focus on fundamental play through modified activities that will instill a passion for the sport. Children will be introduced to various activities that will promote development of body awareness and coordination, while introducing them to individual soccer skills and soccer vocabulary. We encourage parents to register as a volunteer and to be a part of this program with your child.
Soccer Instructional Program (Ages 5-6, 7-9)
The youth soccer instructional program is especially designed for children with limited soccer playing experience. Participants will be introduced to the basic skills of soccer such as passing, receiving, and playing related soccer skill games. Players must provide their own shin guards.

Youth One-Day Art Courses (Ages 5-13)
Canvas Painting: All artists will receive a canvas board to create a one-of-a-kind painting! We will experiment with a resist technique using tape, stencils, and glue, explore color mixing, and try out various painting tools! Come dressed for a messy, fun time!
Tie-Dye: Artists will learn the swirly-whirly art of tie-dying and choose a favorite style for their own shirts. Please bring 2 white 100% Cotton t-shirts to class and a plastic bag for each item, along with an adult helper for children 7 and younger.
Sculpey Mini Sculptures: Artists will work with moldable, colorful oven bake Sculpey Clay. Students will create small animal, insect sculptures, or anything else their imagination desires! Sculptures completed will be sent home with simple instruction for baking.
Arts & Crafts Super Centers: Artists will be able to experiment, explore, and create with fun and exciting materials, working at the centers of their choosing. We will have drawing, printmaking, collage, and wire/bead sculpture station available.
Mosaic Stepping Stones: Artists will use armature wire, beads, tiles, cement, and pie tins to create a beautiful mosaic-style steppingstones. Please bring an adult helper to class for children 7 and younger.
Cray-Cray for Clay: Artists will learn and practice hand-building skills to create 3D works of art using air-dry clay and Sculpey polymer clay. Projects are taught in a way that allows for exploration and individuality so your child may create exactly what they desire. All work will be painted and sealed before being taken home.
Paint, Print & Chalk: Your favorite painting class is back in action! Students will complete a canvas painting, experiment with watercolor techniques, and explore printmaking. We will have a sidewalk chalk party to try out “chalk painting” as well!
Recycled Art: Students will design and build a 3D sculpture using recycled materials while learning about form, balance, and creative problem-solving.
Under the Sea: Explore the vast oceans as we create ocean themed artwork in this awesome class, no scuba gear required. We will practice drawing different sea creatures and then move on to painting and sea inspired sculpture.
Open Studio: YOU will determine the structure of the class. We will start day one by conferencing as a group and making sketchbooks to store our ideas and discoveries. Each day you come to class, you will be welcomed by an assortment of art media to meet the needs of all artists. *Please note that this will be a class that focuses on exploration and process with less emphasis on a final product*.
Comic Creations: Artists will practice drawing action scenes and brush up on ink drawing techniques. Artists will explore comic book layouts and write and illustrate their own awesome comic strip!
Mythical Creatures: Students will design an original mythical creature, create its fantasy world, and tell a visual story using color, texture, and imagination.

Tadpole Discovery: Students will explore small streams and ponds to find and catch tadpoles. Students will study the tadpoles and the life cycle stages of a frog through activities, games, and crafts. Participants may be standing in small amounts of water so be prepared to get a little wet!
Introduction to Canoeing & Basic Water Safety: Students will be instructed on basic water survival skills and canoeing skills such as paddle efficiency and turns. Boat, paddles, and lifejacket will be provided.
Experienced Canoeing: This class is intended for those who are more experienced with a canoe or have taken Introduction to Canoeing and Basic Water Safety. Canoeing rescues will be practiced.
Trailblazers Running Instruction: This introductory running program will incorporate fun training through group running activities and games, as well as daily discussion on proper running techniques, nutrition, and stretching. Participants are required to wear proper running shoes, no sandals.
Fishing Workshop: Students will learn tips and techniques to help them catch more fish! We will discuss fishing rules and regulations, knot tying, casting techniques, and fish identification. All equipment and supplies will be provided.
Camping Skills: Learn valuable outdoor skills such as fire building, camp cooking and Lyme’s Disease prevention.
Nature Hiking & Identification: Enjoy nature as you hike outdoors and learn to identify local plants and animals.
Canoe Fishing: Students will be able to apply their knowledge of fishing and canoeing and leave the shores to cast out into open water, while deepening their understanding of fishing and canoeing skills and tactics. Students are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles and personal flotation devices. Prerequisites: Fishing Class AND a Canoeing Class (either Intro or Experienced).
Introduction to Mountain Biking: Students will learn bike handling, proper gear usage and shifting, safe braking, trail ascent and descent, along with basic bike maintenance. Instructors will discuss trail maintenance and awareness. Participants must provide their own mountain bike and helmet.
Introduction to Archery: This class will introduce students to the basic techniques of indoor target archery emphasizing the care and use of equipment, range safety, stance and shooting techniques.
Introduction to Bouldering: This class is designed for beginner climbers to learn the fundamental techniques of bouldering, including proper footwork, hand placement, body positioning, falling safely, spotting techniques, and basic climbing etiquette, all while building confidence on the wall.

This is an introductory program for the beginner and the Kubb enthusiast. Learn the basic rules and how to play the old Nordic lawn game Kubb. Instructors will include the organizers of the U.S. National Championship. Eau Claire is the Kubb Capitol of America!

This class gives kids the opportunity to try ski jumping. All equipment is provided.

This class will introduce students to basic grammar, vocabulary, finger spelling (ASL alphabet), numbers, and more. Vocabulary signs will focus on family, color, food, and songs in sign and much more through a variety of hands on activities, games, and small group activities.

City of Eau Claire Recreation and the Eau Claire Area School District have teamed up to offer an active summer educational program. Each week will be filled with physical activity, art, and introduction to new skills and concepts. All participants must pre-register.

Stories With A Bite (Ages 5-7): Stories with a Bite is a literature based cooking class. Children will interact with various stories through cooking while learning about nutrition and kitchen safety.
Chef In Training (Ages 8-11): Young chefs will master their way around the kitchen. Instruction includes identification of utensils, kitchen lingo, table setting, measurements, reading recipes, and don’t forget...sampling! All chefs should bring an apron every day. Aprons may be left overnight in the classroom.
Culinary Creations Camp (Ages 12-17): Students will learn the basics of knife skills, cooking and baking techniques, and organize prep while create simple, delicious recipes they will be able to recreate at home.

Gymnastics Instruction (Tumbling Crickets, Age 4): Students will learn basic tumbling and physical coordination skills while developing gross motor skills. Children may also be introduced to the parallel bars, beam, and vault as they are ready. Instructors will “spot” children during skill performance for safety and learning purposes.
Gymnastics Instruction (Beginners, Ages 5+): Participants will learn foundational gymnastics and tumbling skills. As each student’s strength, balance, and coordination develop, they will be introduced to a variety of apparatus specific skills. This may include skills for the parallel bars, balance beam, and vault. 5+ class note: Preferred completion of Tumbling classes.
Gymnastics Instruction (Beginners, Ages 6+): Participants will refine and combine various foundational skills to perform more advanced gymnastic and tumbling techniques. Students will continue working with a variety of apparatuses throughout the class. As the student’s strength, coordination, and balance improves, additional skills will be introduced for each apparatus.

Students will learn the basic fundamentals of golf. Stance, grip, alignment, posture, aim, balance, and proper swing techniques will be taught as well as basic golf course rules and etiquette. If clubs are needed, clubs are provided at Hickory Hills Golf. Course classes for registered participants. Students may be taken on the golf course on the final day of classes.

Introductory youth volleyball program. Instructors will guide the young athletes through drills and exercises designed to improve their skills, teamwork, and overall understanding of the game. The program emphasizes sportsmanship, physical fitness, and having fun while learning. Sessions will include a mix of instruction, practice, and scrimmages on the last day to give participants a well-rounded experience. Participants are asked to provide a water bottle, gym shoes, and knee pads. Volleyballs are provided.

This program offers an ideal introduction to basketball for youth in a positive, recreational environment. Designed as an instructional program, it focuses on teaching the fundamental skills of the sport. Participants will engage in a variety of age-appropriate drills emphasizing passing, dribbling, catching, and shooting. Basketballs will be provided on site for all participants.

The T-Ball instructional program is designed to teach beginning baseball fundamentals. No games will be played. Players are responsible for providing their own gloves. Bats, balls, and batting tees will be provided.

All instructional classes will follow the USTA (United States Tennis Association) Recreational Tennis Curriculum. The USTA program includes performance objectives, skill drills, and fun games on the courts. Students need to bring their own tennis racquet. The USTA tennis curriculum is designed to bring kids to the game by utilizing smaller racquets, slower and lighter balls, shorter court dimensions, and modified scoring.
Red Ball (Beginners): Red Ball tennis instruction is focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination), all while forming the skills necessary to serve, rally, and score. Participants will play fun games and learn how to make contact with the ball while improving hand-eye coordination and self-confidence.
Orange Ball (Intermediate): Orange ball players utilize control, spin, and positioning to their advantage while also being able to consistently rally and cooperate with a partner. Balance, transferring weight, and ground strokes are incorporated into this instructional program.
Green Ball (Advanced): Skills incorporated into Green Ball instruction include playing games and sets, grip, body position, forehand stroke, backhand stroke, service and scoring. Players will learn how to hit with direction, develop volleying techniques, strategies for playing at the net, and improve coordination.
Pickleball: Pickleball is similar to badminton and tennis. It involves playing on a court with the same dimensions as a badminton court with a hard paddle and plastic whiffle ball. Lessons will follow a curriculum of instruction and league play experience. Equipment will be provided or you can bring your own.
