Home MenuBird City Wisconsin
Like the trees that line our city streets, wild birds add to the quality of life in our community. Their beauty, their songs, and the fact that they devour harmful insect pests, make them invaluable neighbors.
"Bird City" is a project sponsored by organizations like The Audubon Society, The Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, and The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, to bring conservation into the hearts and minds of citizens. The Bird City program is a way to give something back to the birds that make our lives better. Obstacles like picture windows, wild cats, deforestation, urban sprawl, and climate change are a few examples of stresses our local bird population faces.
By taking the necessary steps to annually qualify as a Bird City in Wisconsin, the City of Eau Claire has joined dozens of other Wisconsin communities that officially recognize the importance of birds as a living component of a healthy community. In addition, the Arbor Day Foundation has certified the City of Eau Claire as a Tree City USA.
