Single day permits are valid for the date of issue only, and purchasers of 3-day permits must still check the burn permit hotline, 715-839-3882, to ensure burning is allowed each day. All permit purchases are nonrefundable.

To obtain a burning permit, it is recommended that one first calls the Burning Permit Information Line at (715) 839-3882 to find out if burning is allowed for that day. Local weather and DNR Burning Bans will dictate if burning is allowed. There is a $5 fee for single-day burning and a $10 fee for Friday-Saturday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday-Monday burning. Cooking fires do not require a burning permit.
One must go to one of five fire stations within the City of Eau Claire at which a permit may be obtained. Fire Station #10 (820 Malden Avenue) does not have burning permits. It is recommended that the permit is processed at the closest fire station to where the burning will occur. Click here for a listing of the fire station locations. The fire stations have RED self-service boxes where the citizen makes two copies of the permit information. One copy is put into the slot in the lid, and the other copy is retained with the citizen.
